Part I
1. Shelleys poem includes four 3-lined stanzas and a 2-lined conclusion. This form is a Italian Sonnet.
2. The West Wind is mostly associated with the Autumn season.
3. a. whose unseen presence the leaves dead are driven
b. like ghost from an enchanter fleeing,
c. Yellow, and black, and pale, and hectic red,
4. The wind is a wild spirit. Winds may destroy lives like in collapsed telephone poles or sand storms in a desert. It may also preserve life by passing pollen in from flower to flower or circulating pollution throughout the world.

Part II
5. The wind sheds the decaying leaves of a tree, it also provides the movement of clouds where rain, fire, and hail is transported. Winds allow messengers of rain and lightning to suspend in the air where they carry out their jobs.

Part III
6. The wind moves the Mediterranean Sea in which a coil of different shaped streams appear.
7. The Atlantic Ocean can be hear by one and suddenly grow gray with fear, and tremble and despoil themselves. Shelley believes that the ocean is more powerful than the wind.

Part IV
8. Shelley is jealous of the wind because it is able to blow dead leaves, fly with the clouds. She is mostly wanting the power of the wind, the uncontrollable strength, and the environmental dependence of wind.
9. The last couplet of the fourth stanza explains how she would like to be like the wind: tameless, and swift and proud. Shelley wonders if the wind can lift these things into flight, why can it not also lift her as a wave, a leaf, or a cloud.

Part V
10. The speaker is in longing to be the West Wind's lyre, wind-harp, which becomes one with the forest.
11. Shelley believes that her death could give wither leaves a quickened new birth.
12. If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind? This last line brings some emphasis on the first line of the poem about Autumn days. It shows a cyclic schedule from season to season.

1. In the declined of the Byzantine Empire, there were internal weaknesses rebellion against central authorities and problems with foreign challenges. During the decline of the Han dynasty, like the Byzantine Empire there were also internal problems, aristocratic marriages and elite classes fought and peasants revolted. The result of this was called The Yellow Turban Uprising. The collapse of both empires was similar in a way that the members of the societies started a rebellion that sent their country into decline.

2. According to the Quran and the sharia Muslim women could legally inherit land, divorce husbands and have business associates. The Quran had placed a security for women and their dowries, which they were able to claim for themselves. Through the eyes of Allah, women were considered equal to me although, while women were only allowed to have one husband, men were allowed to have as many wives as he wished. The veiling of women came as a way to ensure tradition and modesty. It kept other men from looking at them although there is was still male dominance, imperial expansion let women have these privileges. In family life, the sharia was integrated into Islamic life, both socially and ethically.

3. Factors that lead to the increase of agricultural output of the Song and Tang dynasties included a new strain of fast-ripening rice found in Vietnam, the increased use of heavy iron plows and the extensive irrigation systems were constructed to help cultivate crops in new lands. Since China had such a large population there was an abundance of people to farm land with new techniques supporting such a large population came naturally to the Chinese.

4. Hinduism had an insightful affect in the lives of many Indians Hinduism slowly crept its way into Southeast Asia. Hinduism influenced religious thought; it also endangered the animistic religions of the native Indonesians but soon after Hinduism spread people started to convert to Islam. Confucianism was prominent in East Asia, for these people religion was very important. Religion was profound in peoples lives because the practices were related to their daily activities.

5. Foreign invasion was important to the formation of feudalism because political authorities granted nobles land and money in return for their military services. Nobles organized military/political relationships with other individuals and assembled small private armies. The lords provided land rights to receive rents or payments in return for military services. Without foreign invasions Western Europe would have remained a decentralized government, with the society consisting of slaves and peasants. It developed into a complex organization between lords and retainers. The economy flowed better once foreign invasions came because the lower, working classes received money from the rich, upper classes.

6. Genghis Khan brought Mongol tribes together with alliances and conquests. His soldiers were tested for their loyalty; the chosen soldiers were trained for horse-back combat that emphasized mobility and archery skills. The army was the foundation of all of the successes of the Mongol Empire. Genghis Khan used his past experiences and his mind although he didnt have a big army, he was still strong.
7. The people of Africa first lived in small villages along with the Bantu peoples. The Bantu spread agricultural and herding techniques hunting, gathering and fishing societies slowly changed to agricultural and herding societies. A community was commonly run by kinship groups; social organizations were later formed after Bantu migrations. Bantu migrations brought about many changes in Africa their movement was very dynamic because of great social/agricultural changes.

8. Regional states in Europe maintained good order and fostered rapid economic growth agricultural improvements brought increased food supplies, which in turn brought about the encouragement of urbanization, manufacturing and trade. The Chinese had a strong economy because of the silk roads and maritime trade routes. India experienced increased agricultural production that fueled population growth and urbanization, although they did not return to their previous state of centralized imperial rule. While the Byzantine Empire had social and economic problems they still remained a wealthy land because of Constantinople. In Sub-Saharan Africa the Bantu people were now settled agricultural societies with increasingly complex forms of goverment, this enabled them to systematize their societies more efficiently.

9. The Incas ruled as a military and administrative elite; they staffed their own bureaucracy which managed political affairs. The Inca encouraged obedience by inducing the conquered peoples into society by moving them into their capital city. But when they did rebel, armed forces forcibly exiled the people into distant parts of the empire. The Aztec Empire joined into a triple alliance that guided them through their quest.

10. The Bubonic Plague changed the face of Europe and China forever the plague was said to have killed half or more of an exposed population. There were labor shortages because of this ravishing disease economies shrunk as countries contracted from their long-distance trading routes. Countries became more self-sufficient, because they had to. The first disease was considered an evil spirit, the disease was spread from an infected caveman to his whole camp. People either fled or were killed by this disease. This is similar in a way that there are limited options when in a situation where there is an epidemic.

i didnt figure it out.
someone enlighten me on the whole shirt thing

11.06.2003

i think i figured it out (that shirt really sucks)

This was really funny. Sumair got in trouble because he said the school band practice was worthless. How ridiculous is that? Doesn't he, and we all, have a first amendment right to do what we want in our own home? It's ridiculous and the school just doesn't seem to know where to quit. It's like getting a message from someone asking how your day at school was, and you respond (this all being on a public website), "Oh school was bad. We didn't do anything in class and I feel the time I spend in them is just worthless. I'm not learning anything and I could learn more at home watching TV. I don't like school very much at all, nope sure don't." Then the school goes, "Whoa! You don't like school? I'm afriad because you've used your right to say that you don't like school we are just going to have to suspend you. I know you have the right, but we feel that because you don't like school you are going to shoot it up."

So how many people don't like school? How many people talk about it on a public website that they dislike it? The answer to both of these questions is about every person that goes to school. We all have good days and we all have plenty more bad days. But the question that needs to be asked is, how many of those kids have shot up the school in it's history? Oh yeah, I forgot, none.

so...if i say that school sucks, i guess im screwed
school sucks
band sucks
school sucks
band sucks
practice is worthless
band sucks
?
who cares

More soon?

11.05.2003

Well, im just gonna put down all i want to say, in 4 minutes...till 10:45
its fuming time

well, sumair is being talked to about some little crap
and well, he may be expended or something...some stupid thing like that
whole lotta BS

ya, first of all.... it started out (i think) by sumair correcting somebody....while they were at attention or something
first off...who really cares if there is verbal abuse or if someone is somewhat picking on someone.... i dont even think that was part of it
crapzorz...mustn't think about it
its WAY TOO ABSURB TO EVEN THINK ABOUT IT

well, its 10 40 somehting... and i still have a LOT OF HW to do...stupid chem....
......................

well, thanks to shelly im not completely dead.... dam chem... i hope that classroom blows up one day

*this is somewhat cleaner....i sorta got lazy towards the end*

Quotations
1. The road from Tana to China should be perfectly safe during night and day, no matter what other merchants may say about it. On the trip, a guide and interpreter should be taken along. This excerpt was written by Francesco Balducci Pegolotti on trade between Europe and China.

2. Saint Francis of Assisi usually said this to oppressors of the poor. If someone injured a poor man, he injured Christ. The poor man represents Christ, who made himself poor in the world.

3. This passage, written by Gregory VII, is describing the pope he is portrayed as the most powerful person in the world.

4. From the speech of Robert the monk, shows that the city is in sin, and it is the enemy of Christ, but it is able to be ridden of its sins if they make pilgrimages to Christ (not sure if this is correct, at all.)

5. Also from Thomas Celano, illustrates the personality to St. Francis. Shows that St. Francis was extremely devoted to God and didn't pay much attention to the world

Connections

1. The church officials and the government had disputes about who would appoint church officials. There were some people who despised the clergy, and those people formed separate groups. The Cathars was one of the groups that promoted alternate religious movements.

2. While merchants and workers had their own guilds that controlled economies, students and teachers formed academic guilds. Both of these guilds had regulations along with standards.

3. Scholastics tried to merge Christian beliefs with Greek logic; this led to different groups that started the crusades, which were holy wars. These groups attempted to win back different groups into Christianity.

4. Scandinavians attempted to expand to Vinland, but they ultimately failed because of the stormy seas. Sicily was conquered by Norman warriors. The Europeans began to expand from their homes in search for new lands.

5. Normans were situated on France's peninsula which allowed them access to water and the Normans were descendants of the Vikings so they were able to utilize their excellent seafaring skills and invade foreign countries.

6. An article called, "The Five Ways," was written by St. Thomas Aquinas; it shows that people have been trying to show God exists since the high middle ages.

this post will self-destruct [with the help of cami] in 1 and a half hours...
quotes:
1. said by francesco balducci pegolotti. shows he has good and strong relations with the merchants of other lands, has been to many other regions, traveled a lot, etc.
2. thomas celano talking about st. francis. the quote is from st. francis though. get it? Thomas Celano recorded it down, but it was said by St. Francis! shows beliefs of christians, that christ is in every person, if you curse a person, you are also cursing christ. (yay i like this one!)
3. gregory VII's writing, lists some of the claims of the pope, shows that the pope has a lot of power and a lot of respect (this one is short, but really easy to bs if you read the quote)
4. from the speech of Robert the monk, shows that the city is in sin, and it is the enemy of christ, but it is able to be ridden of its sins if they make pilgrimages to Christ (not sure if this is correct, at all.)
5. also from frome thomas celano, illustrates the personality to St. francis. shows that st. francis was extremely devoted to God and didn't pay much attention to the world

connections:
1. The church officials and the government had disputes about whom would appoint church officials, some people who despised the clergy, and those people formed separate groups, Cathars was one of the groups that promoted alternate religious movements
2. guilds were mostly controlling the economic affairs of the region... soon there became academic guilds and these guilds helped turned cathedral schools into universities
3. scholastics tried to merged christian beliefs with greek logic. led to different groups and the crusades were holy wars, attempting to win back these groups into christianity
4. scandinavian seafarers went to vinland to start a colony, they failed because it wasn't possible to sustain with the stormy seas of the north atlantic ocean. norman warriors and other seatravelers returned to sicily and settled there under a christian region
